Pip was still giving me errors based on the install method I previously described. It was telling me that SSL was missing. This is needed to install some packages. So here my new method to install Python 3.6.9 on macOS Catalina: 1. Install openssl and zlib using brew. Download Python 3.6.9 from the source at python.org. Maria Campbell provides a post on installing the latest version of Python on Mac OS Catalina and overriding the old default pre-installed version. And it even uses Homebrew and not some gnarly steps. I finally did it. Skyrim mac os x. I successfully installed Python version 3.7.7 via Homebrew on my Mac laptop with OS Catalina installed.

Python comes pre-installed on Mac OS X so it is easy to startusing. However, to take advantage of the latest versions ofPython, you will need to download and install newer versionsalongside the system ones.
